Does Combat Ant Killing Bait work?
Combat makes lots of different pest repellents and this is their Ant Killing Bait
How does it work?
You place all six baits on Ant trails or close to areas you see lots of ants. Then ants will eventually come eat of the bait, bring it back to the nest and feed the other ants in the colony. After a little while, the poison will start working and kill the antsThis is the benefit over just spraying poison, as the spray will mostly just kill what you see. Where these kind of traps have a slower working poison, so that the ants will bring it back to the colony and actually kill ants in the colony and not just kill the ants you see
How long does it last?
They advertise that you should replace the traps every three months. Of course, this can also be sooner if you have a very massive ant problemIf you suddenly start seeing an increase in ants again, that's an indication that the traps could be excused and ready for replacement
It could also mean the ants have found a new trail and you might have to move the traps
Things to avoid
Before placing the traps, you want to clean the areas you are going to use the traps in. Why would the ants eat from the traps, if there's tons of food available before they get to the traps? You also need to avoid using bug spray around the traps, as this will make the traps stop working. It's also counter productive to kill the ants with bugs spray directly, if you are trying to make them eat poison and bring it back to their colony
If you absolutely feel you have to spray poison, then either do it before placing the traps or temporarily remove the traps, while spraying
Conclusion
We've been using the Combat Ant Killing Bait for about 3 months, but have had limited success. We saw slight reduction after a few days and it lasted for a little while, until the ants returned stronger than everIf it's the same ant colony or even the same species of ants, we can't say for sure. What we can say, is than it had less effect than expected
We are fully aware that if you have a big ant problem, these traps can be consumed before it goes 3 months. We still expect it to at least last a month
Depending on the size of your ant problem and what kind of ants you have issues with, these traps might work or not work for your issue. They can still be a good option to try, especially if you don't wish to spray poison around your home or place open poison traps
Our verdict: Consider your options
