Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2: Review

Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2 is the latest pro model in the Mi Scooter line-up. It has a few upgrades from the previous model, but many areas are the same
I've had the Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2 for over one year now, let's see how it have held up
Initial Setup
Before you can use the eScooter, you need to do some Initial SetupIt's fairly quick and even kids can manage to do it. Just take the bike out of the box, assemble the screws for the handle, check air pressure and battery level. Then you're ready to roll
Companion app
With the scooter, you can use the Mi Home-app. The app is available for both Android and iOS, and is used for most of Xiaomi's ecosystemIn the app, you can update firmware on the bike. View stats, such as see how far you have gone and battery life. You can also do some configurations, such as choose when rear light should be on, how much battery should be recovered when you break, what unit system you use (metrics or imperial), cruise control and more
Display
On the steering wheel, you'll find a display, power button, bell, breaks and acceleration. On the display, it will show you how fast you're going, what speed mode you're in, if Bluetooth is connected, remaining battery life and warnings (such as overheating)Just below the display, you'll find the power button. With the power button you can turn on and off the bike, turn front light on and off, and change diving mode. What you do, depends on how long you press the power button or if you quickly taps a few times
Riding and range
The riding experience is good and it's easy to operate the bike. I've taken the bike for a few longer rides and even if I'm above the weight limited, I've managed to do about 40 km trips with it on same chargeThe bike advertise with 45 km range and with having it for slightly above a year, I've managed to drive 542.59 km. If it wasn't for the world situation, this number would have been a lot higher. Still, I used it for when I go grocery, office, and other errands. The range for this usage have been superb and I've often could ride for a few days of smaller trips, before worrying about charging. Where I had to charge the Mi Scooter M365 after every trip
Tires and flats
Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2 comes with 8" tube tires and those are more prone to flats. When compared to many other kinds of tires, but they also give a very smooth rideHow big issue flats will be for you, depends on your usage. As I'm above the weight limit of the eScooter by myself and often carry heavy items on top of that. I'm putting more pressure on the bike and the wheels, than what it's designed for. The road conditions where I live is also very varied. Rough road can easier can cause flats, than flat solid ground
I have put solid tire on the rear wheel. It gives me one less worry about flats, but the bike also become more stiff and you'll have a rougher ride. How much you'll feel it, depends on what surface you're riding on and how much weight you put on it
Who is it for?
The Pro models are the largest and heaviest Mi Scooter line-up, with the best range. If you're a smaller person or don't plan to go so far, you might want to consider a non pro model. As it will be lighter and have a lower handlebarIf you don't mind lifting the extra weight (or don't plan to ever lift it) and need the range, then this is a good option
Mi Electrical Scooter Pro VS Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2
If you have a Mi Electrical Scooter Pro and compare it to the Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2, there are very minute upgradesIn China, the homeland of Xiaomi. The Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2 doesn't even exist and that's because most of the upgrades, is to comply with international regulations. So they've added more reflectors, a license plate holder, improved the front and rear light, improved the break system and adjusted the speedometer display
Verdict
I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of improvement from the previous models. You get a bigger battery, which again makes the frame slight bigger and weight slight higherBeyond the added security and legislation measures, such as more reflectors and a rear license plate holder. There's not that much upgrade
As the Pro models are designed for longer range and bigger users, I'd love to see a Pro model with 10" wheels and weight limit increased to 130-150kg
All in all the Mi Electrical Scooter Pro 2 is a good product. Despite its lack of improvements, I don't have issues recommending it
Our verdict: Consider it
