Ris grøt (porridge): Recipe

Saturday is porridge day or at least it used to be traditionally. Still many Norwegians like to have porridge on Saturdays and rice porridge is my personal favorite. Lets see how to make Norwegian rice porridge (ris grøt)

Directions


Cook the rice

Cook the rice and water. I'm using a rice cooker, but kettle also works

Add milk

When the rice is cooked, add the milk and stir

Keep stirring

Now you want to let the rice continue to cook, with occasional stirring. Keep cooking until the porridge is getting a bit firm and doesn't just run of the spoon

Serve and enjoy

Now to put on a plate, put a butter eye (when you put a dash of butter in the middle of the white porridge, it kind of resembles an eye) and sugar on top. Then serve and enjoy

You can also have cinnamon on top, it's very common
