Norwegian Fish Gratin: Recipe

Recipe for Norwegian Fish Gratin with macaroni

Instructions


Cook fish (if raw)

Add the fish to water and bring to a boil, once cooked. Drain and put aside

Cook macaroni

Cook the macaroni as indicated on the packaging

Left over macaroni can also be used

Make sauce

On low heat, melt butter in a casserole. Add flour and mix until even

Add milk gradually, while stiring it in and remove all lumps

Bring to a boil and let simmer for 5 minutes

Add macaroni, fish and leek

Remove the casserole from heat. Then add macaroni, fish pieces and leek rings

Separate the eggs

For best result, use room temperature eggs

Separate the egg white from the egg yolk and add the egg yolk to the batter

Whip the egg whites and then carefully add them to the batter by gently turning it into it. This is to keep as much air as possible

Add to greased baking dish

Grease the baking dish and evenly add the Fish Gratin batter, then top with breadcrumbs

Place lower rack, in preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes, until the the top turns golden

Serving tip

Serve with grated vegetables salad and boiled potato
