New standard for IOT: Matter

If you've invested in Smart Home appliances, you probably have a ton of different apps for each gadget and much doesn't communicate together at all. You might also be concern about the security and close ecosystems

These are areas the Matter standard addresses

Matter

The Matter standard is open source

By the end of the year you'll start seeing Matter certificated products. It's also announced existing Philips Hue products will be updated to support the new standard. It's not unthinkable that more existing products for this huge line of companies will receive the same treatment, but time will tell to what extend

The Connectivity Standards Alliance

The Zigbee Alliance have been rebranded into The Connectivity Standards Alliance. It's an organization of hundreds of companies creating, maintaining, and delivering open global standards for the Internet of Things (IoT)

The Connectivity Standards Alliance board of directors is comprised of executives from Amazon, Apple, ASSA ABLOY, Comcast, Google, Huawei, IKEA, The Kroger Co., LEEDARSON, Legrand, Lutron Electronics, NXP Semiconductors, Resideo, Schneider Electric, Signify (formerly Philips Lighting), Silicon Labs, SmartThings, Somfy, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Tuya, and Wulian

In addition to the companies that's part of the alliance, you also have many companies that participate in this new standard and as of writing, that counts to over 150+ companies
