Electrolux UltimateCare™ 900 Washer Dryer: Unboxing and first look
The Electrolux UltimateCare™ 900 (EWW8023AEWA) is a 8kg washer and 5kg dryer combo
I got it delivered this morning directly from Electrolux's own online store. Got it on sale, with a slight discount and couple of freebies
As this is an heavy item, I was expecting the delivery personel to deliver it to the unit (which is common in this country). Instead they dropped it off in from of the building and said they didn't deliver to units because of the pandemic, so they didn't even bring a trolly. Would have been nice with a heads-up, so one could have prepared a trolly or assistance from someone
As I was alone and didn't have a trolly, I asked if they could assist me up with the items and they said okey. We carried the stuff to the elevator, they asked me to go in first. They filled up the elevator with the items, then told me "elevator only" and ran off
Now I'm suddenly alone in the elevator with a washingmachine that took two people to carry, plus some smaller items
After struggling alone to just get it out of the elevator, I had to slowly move it over to my cage (an open storage unit on the roof of my building, for laundry / storage)
Of course the washing machine (without the box) was 2-3cm to large for the door opening (knew before ordering). So had to create a new temporary door in the wall, so I could get it into the cage
Once inside the cage, after the old trusty Samsung Wobble 6.5kg was moved out of the way. It will finally get to retire, after many years of faithfull service
It was time to unpack. Following the instructions on the box, it was first to remove the straps, then cut the tape on top and open the box, so one could remove the four corner styrofoams. Two removed without issue and the other two was stuck between the washer and the box. So it was easier to just remove the box, then the styrofoam
Now the instructions wanted you to lay down the washing machine and remove the styophome underneath. Here the one sheet instructions could have been more clear, as it sounded like the bottoms plate also should be removed. Read the instructions manual and here it was more clear, that it's only the styophome it was standing on
Afterward it's important to remove the three Transit Bolts, which are there to hold the drum steady under transportation to prevent damage. As this locks up movable parts inside the washingmachine, you can damage the machine if you don't remove them first
You'll need a wrench to remove then, unfortunately there's no tool in the box and you'll need to provide that yourself
After they're removed, you've plastic caps you insert, to cover up the holes
Now it's time to connect the water and it's important to keep the water hose in an angle on the washing machine. Mine was already in an angle, but if it wasn't, it would need to be adjusted
Then it's time to setup the drain hose and make sure the washing machine is level. When that's done, it's time to connect the power and to the first time cleaning wash
Fill up the main detergent drawer with 2L water, then set the wash cycle to Cotton 90°C. Which should clean the drum
Now that's done, I've run a couple of washes and so far the result seems fine. Will come back with a review of the product, after testing it out for a while
