Condura Chest Freezer 8.8CF: Review

Accessories
With the freezer you get some accessories, such as a handle with lock. As the lid has handles built in on the sides, it's optional to attach the handleYou also get an ice-scraper, basket and manuals
Fridge or Freezer?
This Chest Freezer can be run in two different modes, depending on your needsIf you set it to setting 1 or 2, it will be in a Chiller-mode. Meaning you can use it more as a fridge. If you want to use it as an freezer, then setting 3-8 will take you there
When to use the different settings
Setting 1-2: ChillerSetting 3-4: Freezer with minimal load
Setting 4-6: Freezer with moderate load
Setting 7-8: Freezer with large load
Beside the different settings, there's also a Fast Freeze button that can be used with setting 3-8, that will put the freezer on max freeze capacity while on and is good to use if you need to rapidly freeze something. This feature is not recommended to be used beyond 10-12 hours and I wish it would automatically turn itself of after x-amount of hours, but unfortunately you need to manually turn it off
Defrosting
This freezer doesn't have automatic defrosting, so manual defrost will be needed once in a whileInside the freezer there's a valve that can be opened and leads outside the front of the freezer. So you can turn off the freezer and let it sit for a few hours, to let the ice melt and run out
The freezer also comes with an ice-scraper and if you scrape it down once in a while, you won't need to defrost it too frequently. If you scrape directly into a box, such as an empty ice-cream box. You can easily remove most of the build up out of the freezer
Inside the freezer
The freezer has a large 8.8CF, which will be more than enough for most households. They also have bigger or smaller models, depending on your needsThe sliding glass doors on top are nice extra barrier when you open the freezer, as you can open it partially. Unfortunately they quickly get a lot of ice build up and fog up. Unless you're running on chiller mode or just recently scraped them, you won't be seeing much through them
The basket hang from the top of the freezer and slide the entire inside width of the freezer. Perfect to store things you want easily accessible, such as ice-cubes
For my personal usage, I think this is a great size. As we rarely fill up more than 40% of the capacity, so should there be left overs, sales or I just want to stock up on something, I don't need to worry if I have space to store it. Another benefit of having a slight larger freezer, is that it also makes it fairly easy to find what you're looking for without having to dig too much. Especially when you store in boxes and not plastic bags, as it will make it easier to keep the freezer somewhat tidy and are easy to move around
Verdict
After using the Condura Chest Freezer 8.8CF for over 8 months, we have no issues recommending it if you're looking for a chest freezerIt has a decent sized storage capacity and will be big enough for most medium to large families. For smaller families it will depend what you need to store, as it might be a bit big and a smaller one might be a better option. We are a bigger family and we rarely use 50% of the capacity, but I would still go for a similar size if I would pick again, as it's nice to get everything spread out and not needing to dig too much when I need something
Our verdict: Check it out!
