Younger years
The first views of his child hood seems fine, but you quickly feel that something is off and as the show continues, will gradually uncover more and more pieces to his child hood
Before he got famous, he was already laying his foundation. He was early known name by the cops and the court system. After doing different kinds of petty thefts, he ended up in an behavioral institution for young offenders at age 16th and after staying there a little while, he escaped with two others. Who later broke into the country estate of Swedish Prime Minister Tage Erlander
Norrmalmstorg robbery
Clark was in prison when his most famous bank robbery started. 23rd of August 1973, Jan-Erik Olsson went into Kreditbanken on Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm and took four hostages. He requested Clark Olofsson to come there and the government agreed to this demand
The cops wanted Clark to defuse the situation, make sure the hostages wasn't harmed and for the robber to surrender
After entering the bank, Clark decided to stay for a while, because when would be the next time he could do a bank robbery. He went into the vault and saw a beautiful hostage. He quickly demanded that the hostages got untied, which the robber agreed to
Clark is so charismatic, that the hostage of the bank sided with him and didn't feel safe with the police. Kristin Enmark, one of the hostages in the bank. Called Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme from within the bank, to say she was displeased with his attitude and asked for the hostage and robbers to be allowed to leave
Because of how the hostages sided with the robbers, the term Stockholm Syndrome was invented to describe this situation
For six days Clark and Jan-Erik stayed in the bank with the hostages. Until the Swedish police drilled a whole in the roof above the vault, poured gas into the vault and the robbers surrendered
Verdict
It's a wild ride from start to finish, making it even more absurd to think it's inspired by real events.... and lies...
Clark Olofsson was handsome and charismatic, so he was very popular with the ladies. He never really grew emotionally close to anyone and left everyone, as soon as he no longer needed them
The show also depicts the struggles of growing up in an unstable home and what kind of impacts it can have
Clark is well known to lie, so what is true and false in this show is anyone's guess. But all the big events did happen, but the show is based on Clark Olofsson's autobiography. So some of the stories and events is more grand compared to what might have actually happened
