Hanabishi Induction Cooker HIC-200: Review
Let's see what you get with the Hanabishi Induction Cooker HIC-200 and if it's any good
Hanabishi Induction Cooker HIC-200 is a one plate electric induction cooker
In the box
Inside the box you'll find the Hanabishi Induction Cooker HIC-200, manual and pot with lid
Hanabishi unfortunately still have the habit of using stickers with too strong glue. So after you finally get the sticker of, you'll spend a long time removing the glue residue
As induction cookers haven't been as common in the Philippines, all induction cookers I've seen on the market comes with a free pot and Hanabishi is no exception
Controls
The induction cooker comes with many presets, that will take you straight to different heat levels
You can also manually use the + and - buttons to regulate the heat
Induction Cooker benefits
Cooking with an induction cooker has its benefits and drawbacks
With the way induction cookers works, they heat up really fast and you don't need to wait long for the water to boil
They also heat mostly the casserole directly and the surface area doesn't get to hot. Making it cool down quickly after use and being less risk of getting burned
The induction cooker will not turn on, if there's no casserole on top and will stop, if the casserole gets to hot (indication of no liquid in the casserole)
Induction Cooker drawbacks
Because induction cookers heat the casserole more directly, you can't use any casserole. It needs to be made of a magnetic metal or it won't work
An easy way to know if it will work with your existing cookware, is to see if a magnet will stick to the bottom of the casserole. If it sticks, it should work
Induction Cookers are also in general more noisy, than most other cooking methods
Power consumption
We did some power consumption measure on the different modes
State | Consumption |
Off | ~0.81W |
Pause | ~3.66W |
120 (Keep warm) | 3.64 - 974.32* |
300 (Simmer) | 3.64 - 974.32* |
800 | ~784.09W |
1000 | ~964.32W |
1300 (Deep fry / Soup) | ~1311.4W |
1600 (Hot pot / Braise) | ~1543.8W |
1800 (Fry) | ~1756.5W |
2100W (Stir fry / Boil) | ~1958.4W |
*These modes goes frequently between standby and high effect, intervals depending on the temperature (watt) choosen
When temperature was reached, power consumption on all modes dropped down to 3-4W and then backup when it started heating again
Verdict
The Hanabishi Induction Cooker HIC-200 heats the casserole and its content quickly, provide even heat and is easy to operate
It can be a bit noisy, as induction cookers tend to be. If the fan kicks in, it becomes really noisy
For the price, you can get a similar product from the competitors for a lot cheaper
