Baumann Living multifunction electric pressure cooker: First impression review

Baumann Living multifunction electric pressure cooker: First impression review

Let's take a look on what you get, how it's to use and how the results are

A pressure cooker, as the name indicates, it is a device used to cook food under pressure

It's an oversized Rice Cooker, but where the container will be sealed. So the steam doesn't leave the container while cooking

Accessories the box

With the Baumann Living multifunction electric pressure cooker (BM-PC6010H2), you'll get a few accessories

In the box you'll find two accessories, a rice scooper and a rice measuring cup. There's no instructions in the box (at least none was in mine)

You'll also get a removable bowl, good for 5.7 liters. That goes into the pressurecooker, while cooking

20220127_1001_61f2c2aad4513.webp

On the back there a small plastic container, that will take any liquid that drips down

20220128_1001_61f3fdfa31db9.webp

There's a ring around the entire lid, so any liquid spilled should also go to the container

Display

The pressure cooker has a lot off buttons and can seem a bit overwhelming at first

20220128_1001_61f40ec2c5739.webp

On the upper part, you'll have features such aa display, start, stop, keep warm, manual and delay start

There you can also change cook time (duration) and how pressurized it should be

20220128_1001_61f400dfabb46.webp

For the lower part, most are presets, such as white rice, brown rice, stew, hot pot, pasta and more. These different presets will have different pressures, durations and temperature

Using the pressure cooker

First we add the food we want to make

20220128_1001_61f40210bbb63.webp

Here I've added about 2 dl cleaned white rice, with 4 dl water

20220128_1001_61f40566438be.webp

Put on the lid and ensure its in closed position, same with steam valve

20220128_1001_61f3ff4df1390.webp

Now we select white rice (or whatever you plan to cook) and you'll see on the display how long it estimate to take. When you press start, it start to pressurize the container and this takes about 5 minutes and come on top of the cooking time

20220128_1001_61f3ff5700d0c.webp

Next to the pressure valve on top (that should be closed during cooking), there a red metal circle. This will pop-up when the unit is fully pressurized and this is when the timer will start to count down

There's a beep when it's fully pressurized and another beep when it's done cooking. The beep is loud enough, so you'll hear it in another room

20220128_1001_61f40d698db05.webp

When the program is done the status will go to Keep Warm and the counter on the display indicates how long it have been kept in this state

20220128_1001_61f4062a25c98.webp

To open the container, you need to open the pressure valve, by turning it to the side and it will let out the pressure

There will be a lot of steam and some water droplets landing in the area. When the pressure is released, the red metal stick will go down and the container can be opened

Comparing the results to our regular rice cooker, the rice became much more stickier without being saggy. It reminded me of sushi rice and everyone who tried thought it was very good

20220128_1001_61f4072a7c48e.webp

We've also tried to make other dishes, such as Caldereta, a Filipino Beef Stew and after just 30min the beef was already tender. With another round, with vegetables and sauce added. You had an incredible meal

Beef quality is not the best in the Philippines, unless you buy high-end expensive imported meat. So the normally chewy meat, became very tender in a short time and felt like the more expensive meat

Milk fountain

Not every meal is a success, as I soon would find out. I was excited and wary trying to make porridge. As milk have a tendency to overflow and make a mess

20220128_1001_61f4095bb65f0.webp

I normally make porridge in the rice cooker, so I set out to try. Cooking rice went fine and then I added 1 liter milk with the rice

As there wasn't a program for porridge, I selected white rice preset (mistake)

20220128_1001_61f40a1c1bb40.webp

When it beeped to inform it was done, so I opened the steam valve and first steam came out. Before suddenly a beam of milk came out like a fountain

I quickly closed the valve and started cleaning the worse, then slowly opened the valve in small burst so only steam would come out. I repeated this until the pressure was gone and the lid could be removed

20220128_1001_61f40adbb5f91.webp

Inside a solid pieces was floating the porridge. It's a burned piece from the bottom, that must have floated up when the pressure was released. Indicating the temperature must have been too high

Cleaning

It's fairly easy to clean the pressure cooker, even if you had a big milk fountain

20220128_1001_61f40c1a2f349.webp

The steam valve can just be lifted up, so you can properly clean the valve and the area

20220128_1001_61f40c37d58d8.webp

The red pressure indicator can also easily be removed, so the area can be properly cleaned. I used a cotton bud, to get properly inside and scrubbing

20220128_1001_61f4140e52535.webp

As the bowl is removable, it's easy to bring it to the sink and it's enough to clean with a spunge. Even if the food got a little burned (as the porridge), it easily let go of the bowl

Summary

All in all the Baumann Living multifunction electric pressure cooker (that's a mouth full), is easy to use and give good results

If you're new to using pressure cooker (guilty as charged), there will be some trial and error. But even if you make a mess, it's fairly easy to clean
