Discovery+ PH: Review
Discovery have over the year made many memorable shows, such as MythBusters. But is their streaming service worth it?
Discovery+ is a streaming service from Discovery, that covers some of Discovery's main channels and is now found in many countries around the world. In Europe, Dplay was rebranded to Discovery+
This review is mostly focusing on the content available in the Philippines
Content
The most important part to even consider using a streaming service, is what content can they offer and Discovery is a big player
You'll have access to Discovery's wide selection of content, from channels such as Discovery, TLC, food network, History, animal planet, BBC and more
Drawback is that it's mainly Discovery's older content. Where many of their big shows such as MythBusters and Top Gear, isn't even part of the lineup available in Philippines. When checking Discovery+ in other countries, Top Gear as an example can be found
When looking for some of the current Discovery show's seen advertised by creators on YouTube and other platforms. They're no where to be found on the Discovery+ PH lineup
If you're fan of reality shows, there's no shortage of content. If you're looking for other non-reality shows and movies, the content quickly becomes very narrow
How to watch
Most devices are supported. So if you have an Apple or Android Device, Smart TV or just a browser on your computer. You'll be able to watch Discovery+
Many will probably watch through their mobile / tablet or on TV. We've tested the Android mobile and TV apps, both works fine. They're not the best on the market, but they get the job done
Discovery+ while traveling abroad
Discovery+ is not available if you travel outside of the country you subscribe in. Most other streaming services allow you to use their service, even when you travel abroad. You often won't see the content from your home country (country you subscribe from), but at least be able to see the content available in the region you are visiting
This is not the case when it comes to Discovery+, you'll only be able to use it within the country you're subscribing for and if you go abroad, even to countries that have Discovery+, you won't be able to use the service
Conclusion
Unless there's something you really want to check out on Discovery+ or you're a big fan of reality shows. Based on their current library in the Philippines, I can't recommended Discovery+ to most people
I know Discovery have many newer shows, that just isn't available on Discovery+ PH and even many of their own past shows, doesn't even have complete seasons (this have been improving)
If you're looking for mainly reality shows, then check out Discovery+. If it's non-reality related movies and shows you're looking for, I recommend finding another streaming service
