Cuphead and Mugman
The show follows the adventures of the brothers Cuphead and Mugman, which also was the protagonists of the video gameThey live together with their caretaker Elder Kettle, where they help around the home and go out on adventures
Devil owns my soul
We quickly learns Cuphead is the free spirited one who often ends up in trouble, in the first episode he tries to take shortcuts painting the fence, but end up wasting all the paintInstead of buy more paint, as instructed. He convinces his more careful and diligent brother Mugman to instead go to Carnevil
After a bit of fun, Mugman says to his brother they need to get the paint. Cuphead is far from done playing and starts playing a ball game, where he keeps winning and everyone around come to watch
Since everyone is watching, they're not loosing their soles at games and the Devil comes to check why he's not getting soles from his Carnevil and he discovers the brothers
Mugman gets scared and make Cuphead miss his shot, forfitting his sole to the devil and Mugman barely managed to rescue his brothers soul, before it's sucked up by the game
The Devil says the soul belongs to him and starts chasing the brothers through the park. He transforms the rides and shoot after the brothers. Until the entire park is destroyed and all the captured souls escape, to the devil's great dismay
In the chaos, the brother manage to escape the the devil and his Carnevil. This have now created a red thread for season one, where Cuphead owns his soul to the devil and all the devil's henchmen is on the lookout for Cuphead in every few episodes
Art style
The game is famous for its beautiful 1930s era hand drawn cartoon style, that reference the cartoons style from studios such as Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer StudiosThe show is not hand drawn, but otherwise follow the 1930s era style very well. It's a nice compromise on having a beautiful style, true to the video game and 1930 era cartoons, but at the same time modern enough to make efficient to make in this day of age
Skip it or check it out?
I recommend checking it out, especially if you have kids. It's a great show to watch for all agesEach episode is mostly a self contained story, making it an easy show to just relax to and have a good time with
