What's the point with laundry nets?
You might have seen these mesh laundry nets for washing machines, but why use them?
I've seen laundry nets mostly in movies growing up. As they were not common in my household and as me, you might have been wondering about what's the point
What are Laundry nets
Laundry nets, also know as washing machine net, are mesh nets made commonly of durable polyester mesh material. This is to allow for water and soap easily pass through the net
Different types of Laundry nets
You can find laundry nets in a wide selection of colors and sizes, but white is the most commonly color found. Material can vary, but it's always a mesh style bag and with a closing mechanism. I see zip bags most these days, but you can also find other types, such as drawstrings bags
When to use Laundry nets
When you have small or delicate items, is the perfect time to use a laundry net. After getting kids and especially girls in the house, we have a lot of tiny socks and panties. If you have a top load, you most likely won't have to much issue, but with a front loader. You'll often see a sock or something is missing. Then later you might find it in the filter
With using a laundry net, you won't have the issue that the washing maching eat some of your clothes. As they'll be safe inside the net, during the wash
Laundry net is also perfect on bigger items. I've started using them on some curtains, to prevent the curtains rings falling out and when washing the inside of motorcycle helmets
You can also use the laundry nets the other way around, by putting something that can easily damage other clothes inside the laundry net. A good example would be something with velcro. It have happened quite a few times I've washed something with velcro, then velcro have grabbed threads or decoration on other clothes, pulling it off. Putting the velcro item inside a laundry bag, minimises the risk for this happening
After you've put the clothes in the laundry net, you can more safely wash it together with more clothes. As you are better protecting what you wash
Some also use laundry nets, to separate differing peoples clothes. So each person use their own laundry net, then all go into the same washing machine. So you can save on the number of washes you need to take, but also can easily separate different peoples clothes
