Fixing a clogged sink
We have all been there, busy in the kitchen and then suddenly the water won't go down. Often it can be an easy fix, but sometimes it needs heavier solutions
#1 Remove waste
Before even continuing, remove anything in the sink not liquidThis will help avoid it floating down and clogging up even more, it could even be the cause of the clog
#2 Plunger
If you have a plunger available, a few pumps can often help loosen up the clogIf plunger alone doesn't work, it can be combined with many of the other solutions
#3 Hot water
Hot water solves a lot. Boil water and then pour it down the drain, often loosens up the issuesYou might have to repeat this steps a few times, to ensure as much as possible is gone
#4 Chemicals
Plumbers are not a big fan of many of the chemicals used, as they often just move the problem. If you decide to go for chemicals, there's many options out there to help loosen up clogsI normally use bleach for regular maintenance, to loosen up any buildups before they become an issue. I pour some bleach in the drains, wait about 5 minutes then flush with water
#5 Cleaning drain pipe
Start with getting a bucket to put underneath. Some drain pipes have a drain plug, where you can empty it for water and good way to test before removing the entire pipeIf it didn't help or you didn't have a drain plug, remove the entire pipe section. By unscrewing it under the sink and near the wall
Now that the pipe is removes, go to a sink or a place with a hose and clean it
Also check the pipe in the wall, if there's buildups there and remove as much as you can
