Kiwami BGC: Review
Kiwami is a Japanese food hall found in BGC and a few other locations in the Philippines
Inside you'll find four Japanese restaurant; Hannosuke, Hachibei, Ippudo and Yabu
All specializing in their own area; Ramen, Tendon, Yakitori and Tonkatsu
Ordering
At the table, you'll find a QR code you can scan, to get the menu and the waiter will provide a paper, where you cross off what meal you want. The menu covers all four restaurants, where you can mix and match as you want
After you're done filling out your order, you flag down a waiter and they'll repeat your order. Which I'm glad they did, as what I selected didn't match what the waiter was reading. I was just going by the codes, but the waiter informs they don't always match the menu and we have to go by the name
Food
After about 15min, the noodles arrived and around 30min the katsu and grilled sticks arrived
For set meals from Yabu, you'd normally get unlimited refills on rice, miso soup, fruits and salad
Because of the pandemic. They're currently not offering unlimited food refills and the staff informs that they hope to be able to resume it soon
Drinks and desserts
For drinks, they had a few items available in bottomless (unlimited refills). You could get ice-te, lemonade or lychee & peach in bottomlessThey also have fruit shakes. Kids tried the watermelon and they all loved it
Something these restaurants by themselves normally don't offer and unique to Kiwami, is ice cream. Here they offer what they call Hokkaido ice cream
You can get it in a freshly made cone or in a cup, with either pearls or pudding toppings. We went for in a cone and it looks really good
Being an ice cream lover, I was disappointed. Kids was happy for the ice cream, but the oldest also also didn't like the ice cream itself, but said the cone tasted very good
Verdict
Normally these restaurants alone have a very narrow selection, as they all have specialized in one area. But when you get Hannosuke, Hachibei, Ippudo and Yabu under one roof. You suddenly have a decently wide food selection
One thing you might expect to find in an Japanese Food Hall, but believe it or not. You won't find it here, is sushi
The food is high quality and delicious, no matter what restaurant you pick. It can be a bit hard to get the waiters attentions at time, but you'll have a great experience all in all
Our verdict: Check it out
