Does self heating noodles work and how do they work?

Self heating noodles are not common where I live, but as I was browsing an store that sells mainly imported food. I came across a self heating noodles box from Singapore
Haidilao Self-Heating Beef Hot Pot
I picked up one box of Haidilao Self-Heating Beef Hot Pot - Tomato Flavour, only flavour availableAfter you open the box, you'll find many different bags
All the bags in the white bowl are food items and one with cutlery. Pour the food content into the white box
Then fill drinking water up to the fill line of the white box
Now you want to take black box and fill with room temperature water up to the fill line. Then remove the heating pack from plastic and put into the water
Here lies the magic (science) on how the product works. The chemicals inside the heat pack, reacts to the water and will start to generate heat and boil the water. As this is in a closed container, with just a small ventilation hole on top. This will cook the food
Now you quickly want to put the white bowl back into the black bowl and put the lid on firmly. Now it needs 15min to cook
After a few minutes steam will be coming out through the small hole in the lid
After 15min the food is cooked and lid can be removed. Then beef was tender and the vegetables and noodles had slight bite to it
With the soup and most condiments, I'd say this bowl is good for 2-3 person. But it's not too much noodles, compared to amount of soup
Conclusion
I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of vegetables and there even was beef chunks (50g) in the packThe tomato flavour wasn't the best, but that comes down to personal taste and the quality of the food was good. If there was other flavours available at my local store, I'd gone for that
If you're in a place where you don't have easily access to a kitchen or restaurant, this is an good option. With the price point of the item and the cost of restaurant food in the country I live in (Philippines). I would be able to order delivery of restaurant for 1-2 persons for the same amount, but I'd definitely consider it for trips and other event's where I don't have easy access to kitchen or restaurants
The self heating noodles work, no doubt about it. The food got proper heated and it was very easy to make
