What's the difference?
When you look at a Volvo police car, at first glance they look the same as a the consumer model of the Volvo. Just with a different paint jobs, blue lights and sirens addedIn reality there's quite a bit more difference. From the factory, there's already a different chassis and breaks added to the car, to withstand the extra pressure a police car can encounter. The chassis is made to withstand much greater weights, compared to the standard chassis. A police car often contains filled up storage drawers, spike strips and other heavy equipment, so the Volvo V90 supports a max weight of 2.620 kilo
The Police issued Volvo's will not have the 180 km/h speed limit, as the consumer models have
The new cars will also feature new navigation system, radar, 360 degree camera and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)
The ANPR will allow the cop car to automatically read the number plates of meeting cars, lookup the plate and instantly return info if the car is stolen or not authorized to be in traffic
