Dairy Queen Oreo 8" ice cream cake

Dairy Queen Oreo 8" ice cream cake

When you celebrate, you often want both cake and ice-cream. Then why not combine them?

I've never been the biggest cake eater and there's very few cakes I'd take a second round off. Ice-cream on the other end, I'd often been guilty of makeing the box it came in spot free

When I discovered a few years ago, that you could get ice-cream cakes in a wide variety. We rarely have regular cakes anymore

Our main source is Dairy Queen, as they're relative close by, have fair pricing and most importantly, they actually taste good

This time we had the 8" Oreo cake. The cake is topped with cream, chocolate and Oreo pieces. The cake itself is mainly vanilla ice-cream with a near bottom layer with Oreo / chocolate crumbs

One of the challenges can be to get it home without it melting (to much at least). Last few times I've resorted to getting it delivered, as the delivery guy most of the time have cooler bags and can preserve it better than I can. They also offer take home solutions, where you can buy a cooler bag and they'll fill it with ice. This is a bag you can reuse. I've used their old styrofoam boxes, which they've discontinued in favour of the cooler bag (not tried)
