Foodpanda PH: Review

Foodpanda PH: Review

Foodpanda is a food delivery service, but is it any good? Let's find out

Using Foodpanda

After opening Foodpanda and entering your location by entering or allowing position sharing, you'll get a list of available restaurants

From there you can pick the restaurant you want and can review their menu

If you find something you want, just add it to cart. Often food and drink items will have additional options, especially if you selected an meal. Where you can pick flavour, size of meal, etc depending on what you selected

Afterwards you can select quantity of that specific selection or you can click on the food again. If you want one more, but different selections

When you're done, you can checkout and you'll see an estimate delivery time and can choose between different online payments and cash on delivery (COD)

Foodpanda prices VS in-store price

Without a doubt, most restaurants have a markup on their prices when ordered through Foodpanda and that's before you add any delivery charges

Some restaurants offer discount on pickup orders and even with this discount, prices will often be slight higher than in-store prices

PandaPro

If you plan to order a lot through Foodpanda or dine-in frequently, a PandaPro subscription might be something for you

An PandaPro membership offers you 15 free deliveries month (on orders above P400), extra discount on select restorant, bonus take out and dine-in discount

Warning: Foodpanda might overnight and without warning, change delivery areas and you might go from every restaurant around you to 3 restaurants. Keep this in mind, especially if you live outside a major city

Customer service

When I started using Foodpanda, the customer service was very good. Any issues I might have had, was quickly resolved and they often went above any expectation I had

As Foodpanda have been growing (in the Philippines), they've gradually reduced their customer service quality. To a point where it's getting harder and harder to get a proper solution. I've been missing entire items from my order and even after checking what items what was missing, before opening the chat with the agent. You will have to go through a lot of queries and agent will try to avoid refunding you, just giving you some generic replies that they'll improve until next time. If they are offering "refund", they'll try to give you an short lived voucher, that doesn't even cover the item missing

You can of course refuse and they'll eventually agreed to refund you the cost of the time to your wallet or payment method. This should have been the first outcome they suggest, not something you have to argue for

If you're not so "lucky" as picking a topic that let's you talk to a live agent and instead goes to e-mail / slow chat (24-48hr between each reply). You'll quickly spend days and get no where, where agent gives an generic reply without actually reading your issue and then resolving your ticket. Within a few days, you can re-open the ticket by just replying. Unfortunately the agents have a tendency of not actually reading and just giving the same generic reply over and over

Verdict

Foodpanda is easily to use, either through their mobile app or website

The interface is easy to operate, so you can quickly add what you wish to order and checkout. Depending what you selected, your food will either be delivered or ready for pickup

After using the service for a few years, the food is generally still hot when it arrives. Just be carefully with perishable products such as ice cream, especially if you order delivery from a restaurant far away and days with many ordering (such as paydays/holidays). Have experienced a few times it's near/completely melted. Sometimes it's because of slow delivery, other is because store prepare it to soon and it stays on the counter, waiting for driver to pickup

As long as you don't have issues and do not need to contact support, I don't have much issues recommending Foodpanda. As soon as you have issues however, you'll quickly end up wishing you ordered from somewhere else

Our verdict: Consider your options
