Pick.A.Roo Grocery Delivery: First Impression

Pick.A.Roo is a delivery service for food and grocery in the Philippines. We have previous tested out their food delivery, check out our PICK.A.ROO Food Delivery: First impression

This time we are checking out their grocery delivery service

Ordering

After you've picked your store, it's just add to cart the items you want. It's fairly easy to navigate and searching in the store, but it's not perfect. Searching can require you to be pretty precise to find what you want and you can quickly end up having to go through quite a few pages, before finding what you wanted. But for the most case it works fine

When you add an item to your cart, you can pick quantity, instructions and what to do if unavailable. On this product I choose to specify in instructions what variant I wanted, if the one I picked was unavailable. Otherwise picker will find a similar item an suggest it to you, which you can always decline if you don't want it. Otherwise you can always select that you don't want the item replaced, if unavailable

When your cart is filled, you can head to checkout. Review that you have everything you need and the quantity is correct. Next you get to pick delivery slot, which can be same day if available slots and add any discount voucher. Recommend clicking add even if you don't have a code, as there might be listed special ongoing promos here (as it did in my case) and then you can just apply the one that you feel is best

Some stores, such as S&R, charge 5% surcharge to non S&R Members. If you already are an S&R Member, add your card in your profile settings before checking out, to avoid paying this non-member surcharge

Next up is payment, here you can pick between different options or cash on delivery (on orders below a certain total value). Your payment method will not be deducted, before delivery. Once you have picked a payment method and confirmed, your order is placed and will be fulfilled in connection to the delivery slot you picked

Issue occurred

Just as the food arrived, a text arrived saying I needed to check my email for payment verification. As I didn't have the email used on my phone, I had to remote with my phone, to a server that did. Yeah, I know most people just have their email on their phone and this wouldn't be as a big hassle for most people. In the email it stated I had 15min to send proof that I'm the cardholder, by sending a photo of a valid ID and the card used (last four digits needs to be visible)

As I couldn't send email attachment from the restaurant and also don't like sending personal information over email. I opened the Pick.A.Roo app, started a chat and asked if I could send it through there. They said only email could be used for payment verification

I then added the photo to my OneDrive and attached the OneDrive link to the e-mail reply. Then the team replied only attachments was valid. As I was already in dialog with them and past the 15min, I first got to send it over when I hot back home and because of all the delays with verification, we got a new delivery window in the evening

I really wish there would have been an verification step on checkup for first time orders / orders over a certain limit, so I could have just uploaded the requirement in my own leisure before checkout or even decide not to checkout, if I didn't feel comfortable sharing the requested details. At bare minimum have an option to provide it through the in app chat support

Delivery

As I had quite an big order, including 24 packs of milk and 25kg rice. They came with three motorcycle (some countries would define them as mopeds), to deliver the goods

First Impression

We hope they listen to our feedback and make the verification process part of checkout, if you reach a certain amount and this would make customer experience much better

Their app feel modern and easy to use, their app selection fairly matches store selection and prices
