Why do some put spikes under their sneakers?

You might have seen some put spikes under their shoes and wondered why?
It's a very easy reason why people put spikes, either permanent or removable. It's to walk safely on ice, by improving your grip on ice. Same reason as winter tires have spikes
In colder climates, you can get shoes with pre-installed spikes (non-removable)
Otherwise you can get pigs you can put onto any shoes, just pick a size range that matches your shoe and these are removable
Spikes is not a 100% guarantee that you won't slide or fall on ice, but it will greatly improve your grip on ice
