Does all M.2 work?

Short answer, no. You need to use an NVMe M.2, with a storage capacity between 250GB – 4TB. That uses interface PCIe Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD and form factor 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280 or 22110 (first two digits are width in millimeter and remaining digits are length in mm)

A cooling solution, such as heatsink is also most likely needed and Playstation have provided required dimentions

Installing M.2

By removing the faceplate without the Playstation logo on it, you'll find the expansion slot. You'll need a #1 Phillips or cross-head screwdriver to remove the screw and spacer. Here you'll need to adjust the spacer, depending on the size of your M.2

Check out Playstation M 2 page for detailed instructions with pictures [↗]

Playstation haven't announced when this update will come to the general public
