If you've played different Mario games, you might have noticed how Bowser's voice changes

Bowser is probably one of the most famous villains out there. Not only has his looks evolved over the years, so has his voice

This article will focus on the video games and voice used in international releases

Early days


In the beginning, Bowser didn't have any voice

Super Mario 64


First time Bowser got a voice was in Super Mario 64


His voice was created by modulated voice clips, gotten from Sound Effect Libraries and some of the clips used was made by Charles Andre Martinet. If you think that name sounded familiar, is because he have been the voice of Mario since the 1990s

Super Mario Sunshine


This is the first and only time Bowser speak with fully understandable words and sentence


He's voiced by Scott Burns, who will continue to voice Bowser for a few more games

Super Mario Sunshine is the only game to date where Bowser speaks in fully understandable sentences. In later games, it's just a few words that are understandable and rest is more growling

Super Paper Mario


Eric Newsome voiced Bowser for a few titles, as Scott Burns had to suddenly step down


Nintendo started auditing for a new permanent voice actor for Bowser, while Eric was covering as Bowser's voice

Super Mario Strikers onwards


Kenneth W. James started voicing Bowser in Super Mario Strikers onwards


Until this day, he's still the voice of bowser when it comes to the main line games
