Proto type Wii Remotes leaked

Proto type Wii Remotes leaked

Nintendo had a huge data a while back and the data from the leak have leaked in waves to the public

The main data leak was in 2018, but most came to the public in 2020 and since then the data have been released in waves. The leaks are being referred to as Nintendo Gigaleak

Now TV | Dreamers Dev have shared some more details from the leaks on Twitter [↗] about the Wii Proto type remotes

Before Nintendo settled on the design we know and love (hate) for the Wii Remote. They went through many revisions and from the Nintendo Gigaleak we finally get to see a peek in what they were considering and trying out before the final design

Different layouts

As you can see from the image above, button layout changed a lot. In many concepts the A-button was also on the back and the B-button on front

They considered a circular navigation with the A-button in the middle, which is similar to what we see on modern TV-remotes

The Plus and Minus buttons also went through many iterations. Earlier concepts shows these with "back" and "pause" icons, they also tried with left and right facing arrows. The prototype controller image calls the buttons "Start" and "Select"
