You'll now be able to store your PS5 games on a USB-drive
Today PlayStation 5 is rolling out its first major update globally
USB Storage
You'll finally be able to expand on your 1TB disc (667 GB usable), with compatible USB storage devicesNow you can move your PS5 games to and from an UBS Storage device. As the PS5 games depends on high speed SSD to run correctly, you won't be able to play games directly from the USB Storage Device
PlayStation informs it's quicker to load a game from an USB Storage Device, compared to re-downloading it or copy it from a disk. Games on a USB Storage Device will also receive updates, just as if it was on the PS5 itself
There will also be an option to select what game mode to install (such as campaign or multiplayer) for selected titles
As already announced, PlayStation will support M.2 disks expansion in the future. PlayStation informs they're still working on it and no date is provided for when it will be enabled
Share Play between PS4 and PS5
PlayStation will also extend the Share Play feature to PS4. While chatting in parties, PS5 user can share their view with PS4 owners and they can even try out PS5 titles, this features also works vise-versaRequest to join for joinable session of friends, will now appear on both PS4 and PS5. Making it even easier to join your friends
These are some of the new features being rolled out in the April update
